The Appaloosa
Appaloosas normally display a leopard spotted coat, colorless sclera (the section of the eye next to the cornea) and vertically striped hooves.
The breed background of this distinctive horse is not totally understood. There is some evidence that mottled horses were present in very many countries in Asia and europe, and historians have found cave paintings which have been dated back to 18000BC showing mottled horses that may be the origins of the appaloosa we know today. It is quite possible that the mottled coat was first a form of camouflage, serving a similar purpose to the striped pattern on a zebra.
The modern-day Appaloosa is descended from horses brought to The usa by conquistadors. These were somehow acquired by the Nez perce people, who proficiently engineered them into the excellent horses that we know right now.
This fine horse was in the first instance known as the "Palouse horse", even though over time its name was changed into the modern alternative, "Appaloosa".
The mustang horse
The mustang horse is a very famous horse that is seen by many americans as a live symbol of the influential and cowboy spirit of the Wild west.
Even though Mustangs are habitually known as 'wild' horses, the more appropriate name is 'feral' horses as all so-called 'wild' horses present in Mexico and the u.s. are related to horses that were by origin domestic horses shipped to The usa by the early colonists.
The majority of these early horses were of European or Arabian stock, but had amongst them a wide variety of colors and many types and breeds.
Clearly, some of these sturdy horses got loose or were stolen by the indigenous tribes, and rapidly spread all through the whole country
